Meet the Coaches

  • Coach Sam

    Sam Bamber Lister is an experienced coach dedicated to fostering growth and excellence in every athlete. Growing up in the North East of England, Sam developed a passion for soccer at an early age, earning his FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification at just 16. As a player, he proudly represented multiple clubs as well as his school, district and county before moving to the United States on a soccer scholarship.

    During his initial college years in Utah, Sam made a significant impact on the field. In Fall 2016, he was named in the All-Conference First XI, and in Fall 2017, he repeated this honor while also becoming the conference's top scorer. His outstanding performance culminated in being named Athlete of the Year for his university.

    After transferring to Shaw University, Sam continued to excel, receiving multiple accolades including the Men's Soccer Leadership Award and the Athletic Director's Award. Following graduation, he worked closely with Shaw Men's Soccer as their assistant coach while also playing professional soccer for the Fayetteville Fury, where his team were crowned conference champions in their first season.

    After his time at Shaw, Sam was recruited to hire and train coaches in Boston, where he spent two years developing coaching talent and enhancing programs. He later returned to North Carolina to help build Tempo Soccer, where he continues to train and inspire athletes.

    Sam holds a USSF Grassroots qualification, which enhances his coaching methodology. With over a decade of coaching experience, he combines his competitive background with a personalised approach, focusing on developing both athletic skills and mental resilience in his athletes.

  • Coach Danny

    Danny Cameron is a dedicated coach with a rich background in the sport. After spending over six years in Hibernian Football Club's youth academy, Danny made the transition to the United States, where he continued to hone his skills.

    He played for Tynecastle Boys Club for 18 months, leading the team to two league titles before beginning his collegiate career at Emmanuel College in Georgia in 2016. In his first season, Danny showcased his talent by helping his team reach the NCCAA national final, earning First Team All-American recognition and a nomination for Best Player in the Country.

    Despite facing injuries during his sophomore year, Danny rebounded in his junior season with his best goal-scoring output, receiving All-Conference honors. In 2019, he joined Shaw University in North Carolina, where he not only completed his degree but also started paving the way for his coaching career.

    From 2020-2024 Danny worked at Challenger Sports, playing a major role in recruiting players for the Steven Gerrard Academy as an International Scout. This experience enriched his understanding of talent development and scouting at a high level.

    As a coach with North Carolina FC Youth since 2021, Danny has led teams to NCYSA league title victories as well as numerous tournament victories along the eastern seaboard. His coaching journey continued when he joined the NCFC men’s first team coaching staff for their 2023 season, contributing to their success in winning the USL League 1 championship. Currently, he continues to coach with the men’s team in the USL Championship.

    Danny holds a USSF C license and remains passionate about developing young talent in the sport he loves.
